Catalan food is more hearty with pork, rabbit and lamb meat and fish. It has a lot of seasonal variety like artichokes and spring onions (grilled Calçots with Romesco sauce in the spring). Also from fresh salads and veggies to nuts and raisins with Moscatel desert wine and of course Cava. Do not forget to try the Crema Catalana for desert as well. You might save a bit, if you get a Menu del Dia at a bar during lunchtime. There are usually three courses with a drink with very affordable prices. I love the fresh croissants but please try a fresh ensaimada from a bakery for me, because I really miss those!
